Altavista EMS is primarily a volunteer emergency medical service agency. Altavista EMS is committed to serving the community with professional and quality service. We serve Southwestern Campbell County including the incorporated Town of Altavista, a vast section of Northern Pittsylvania County including the incorporated Town of Hurt, and the Lynch Station/Leesville community of Bedford County.  We have an up to date fleet of Ford ambulances, 1 "rapid response vehicle", 2 specialty rescue vehicles, 1 multi use car, and 2 boats.

Providers of Altavista EMS consists of 6 Emergency Vehicle Operators, 21 Emergency Medical Technicians, 6 Shock Trauma Technicians, and 6 Medics.  The auxiliary group has 6 members dedicated to helping with special events.                                                                      

Altavista EMS has 11 officers ( 6 Commissioned and 5 Non-Commissioned). Altavista EMS also employees one paid administrator and one administrative assistant.

Organization Objectives

Provide emergency medical services to the citizens and visitors of the area serviced by the agency.

Maintain professional delivery of emergency medical services through attendance of training sessions, seminars, and regularly schedules drills designed to update and improve the quality of emergency medical training.

Promote the general awareness of emergency medical services by offering classes for the general public when possible.

To cooperate with other EMS, Fire, and Public Safety agencies in the service area and in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This site is dedicated to all public safety personnel who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
